Now, a new contender for the title of the world's largest Ouija board arrived in Salem, Massachusetts. The 72-foot-by-44-foot board is larger than the previous record holder's 44-foot-by-29-foot board.
Rick Schreck, a New Jersey tattoo artist, has been constructing the board for nearly a year. He is the vice president of the Talking Board Historical Society and has constructed about 200 talking boards. The board is based on a 1917 design by William Fuld. It features a planchette that is 15.5 feet long and 400 pounds.
A single person or a large group can maneuver the planchette. The board's surface features advertisements for various haunted attractions. The planchette is covered in 20 gallons of wood stain.
The planchette of the OuijaZilla is 15.5 feet long and weighs 400 pounds. It comprises 99 individual sheets of plywood and can be moved by one person or a large group.
Schreck's board was disassembled earlier this month, but the Guinness Book of World Records doesn't list the board as the world's largest. A spokeswoman for the organization said that the record was not yet verified.
